Go to obsproject.com and download OBS Studio for your OS. Install it and run the auto-configuration wizard — select "Optimize for streaming" when prompted.
Go to Settings → Video. Set Base Resolution to your monitor resolution (usually 1920x1080). Set Output Resolution to 1280x720 — this is the sweet spot for cam streaming across multiple platforms. Set FPS to 30.
Go to Settings → Output → switch to Advanced mode. Set Encoder to NVENC (if you have an NVIDIA GPU) or x264. Set Rate Control to CBR. Set Bitrate to 2500-3500 kbps. Set Keyframe Interval to 2 seconds. These settings balance quality and bandwidth for multi-streaming.
In the Scenes panel, create scenes for different parts of your stream: "Main Show" (your primary camera angle), "BRB" (a placeholder image/text for breaks), and "Starting Soon" (a countdown or welcome screen). Right-click → Add to create each one.
In your Main Show scene, add sources: Video Capture Device (your webcam), Audio Input Capture (your microphone), and optionally an Audio Output Capture (for music). Position and resize your webcam feed to fill the canvas. Add any overlays or text you want.
This is where it gets platform-specific. If using Restream: go to Settings → Stream, select "Restream" as the service, and paste your Restream stream key. Click "Start Streaming" and check each platform to confirm your stream appears. Watch for dropped frames in the bottom bar of OBS — if you see more than 1-2%, lower your bitrate. Test your audio levels by talking at normal volume — the green bars should peak around -10 to -6 dB.
